As an arranger, Jim Boyle enjoys the challenge of taking a known melody and setting it in a different manner. He does this by adjusting the range, harmony, texture and voicing, all the time understanding that he must be true to the original while adding his own stamp of originality. He also has experience taking a familiar text and setting it in a completely different manner from the original setting. In these cases, the pieces end up being original compositions but with familiar words. In one original arrangement, Jim took three Christmas carols and set them each in different styles and then combined them to be sung together. The arrangement was recorded professionally by the Clifton Street Singers in Tampa, Florida. He also takes contracts with vocal and instrumental solosists who are looking for original material for concerts and recitals.
